General Admission of Institute of Social Work Admission Requirements
Undergraduate Programs
To be admitted to undergraduate programs at ISW, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Basic Technician Certificate Programmes (NTA Level 4)

Minimum Entry Qualifications:
- At least four (4) passes in the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) excluding religious subjects OR
- At least six (6) months certificate from an institution recognized by NACTE or NVA Level 3.
Ordinary Diploma Programmes (NTA Level 5 & 6)

Minimum Entry Qualifications:
- Direct Entry: At least one (1) principal pass and a subsidiary at Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) amounting to a minimum of 1.5 points, and four (4) credits in CSEE excluding religious subjects.
- Equivalent Entry: Basic Technician Certificate from a NACTE-recognized institution with a GPA of 2.0 and four (4) passes in CSEE excluding religious subjects OR
- Certificate in Nursing/Midwifery and related courses, and Certificate in Education (Grade III A) with an average of C from NACTE-recognized institutions, plus four (4) passes in CSEE excluding religious subjects.
Bachelor’s Degree Programmes (NTA Level 7-8)

Minimum Entry Qualifications:
- Completed A-level studies before 2014: Two principal passes with a total of 4.0 points from two subjects.
- Completed A-level studies in 2014 and 2015: Two principal passes (Two Cs) with a total of 4.0 points from two subjects.
- Completed A-level studies from 2016: Two principal passes with a total of 4.0 points from two subjects.
- Recognition of prior learning qualification: B+ Grade.
- Equivalent applicants: At least four (4) O’-level passes (Ds and above) or NVA Level III with less than four O’-level passes, or equivalent foreign qualifications as established by NECTA or VETA, plus at least a GPA of 3.0 for Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6), or an average of C for Full Technician Certificate (FTC), or an average of B grade for diploma in Teacher Education or Health-related awards, or a Distinction for unclassified diplomas and certificates, or Upper Second Class for classified non-NTA diplomas.
Postgraduate Diploma Programmes

Master Degree Programme (NTA Level 9)

Minimum Entry Qualifications:
One-year Programme:
- Advanced Diploma/Bachelor Degree in Social Work with a GPA of 2.7 or a Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work. Applicants in this category will undertake Advanced Modules carrying 120 credits.
Two-year Programme:
- Advanced Diploma/Bachelor Degree in Social Sciences (preferably Community Development, Sociology, Health Sciences, Psychology, Education, or related disciplines) with a GPA of 2.7. Applicants without a Social Work background will undertake both Foundation and Advanced Modules carrying 260 credits.
